The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II has tasked Nigerian journalists to at all times stick to the rules of the noble profession in the interest of the country.
The Emir gave the call on Tuesday in his place when he received The Reporters Magazine’s Good Governance Advocate of the Year Award.
Sanusi said nothing else was expected from journalists in discharging their duties aside telling the truth and being fair to all parties at all times.
” The newspapers should not derail from telling the truth and they should always abide by the rules of journalism profession”, the Emir said.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman/Editor- in-chief of The Reporters Magazine, Mallam Abdullahi Sabiu told the Emir that the management of the magazine decided to confer him with the award because of his consistent crusade for good governance.
“You have used your position and robust voice to advocate for the girl-child education, responsible parenthood and end of the plight of out-of- school children”, Sabiu said.
“We are giving you this award to encourage you to continue to be there for the masses”, he added.
