Home Grown School Feeding Program Receives Boost in Bauchi.

Bauchi State Government has    restated its commitment in domesticating the Federal Government The Home Grown School Feeding Programme HGSF.Governor Mohammed Abubakar disclosed this yesterday at the opening ceremony of a  two- day stakeholders workshop on Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) of Federal Government Social investment Programme  at Banquet Hall of Government House Bauchi.

According to the Governor, the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, which is one of the key components of the federal government’s Social Investment Program has received special attention by the state government.”Already a technical Committee has been constituted to drive the process and ensure its  implementation”, Governor Abubakar said.He said the state government’s commitment on the program was clearly demonstrated by fulfilling all  obligations in line with all the guidelines governing the HGSF program.

” Toward  complementing the effort of the office of the Vice President in sustaining the Social Investment Program,   the state government  has purchased 3 vehicles and office equipment for the program at total cost of 48,000,000:00,” Gov Abubakar reiterated.He said the training of stakeholders on the implementation of the HGSF program would  bring succour to the citizens of Bauchi State by improving human capital development and helping in reduction of poverty.

The Governor pledged  continued support to the program and all  other similar programmes.   In her remarks,  the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment Programme,  Mrs Maryam Uwais,  said Bauchi State government had met all the requirements for the program initialization as contained in the MoU signed by the state, with the initial engagement of stakeholders sensitization workshop.

She said the essence of the program was to increase enrollment and completion rates at the primary school level, saying “the program shall feed classes 4-6. And Biometric information of benefiting pupils will be taken to avoid ghost pupils”Earlier speaking the state focal person on Social Investment,  Alhaji Mansur Manu Soro,  said the state government, under the leadership of Mohammed Abubakar,  has met all the obligations of similar interventions such as UBEC, SDG/CGS, CSDP, FADAMA PROJECTS, DFID/UNICEF BMGF,  Dangote Foundation by prompt payment of all counterpart funding as stipulated in the various MoUs.
