The Kano Emirate Council Bill 2019 which seeks the creation of additional four emirates has been passed into law by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The bill was re-submitted to the lawmakers after a high court nullified emirates councils and emirs earlier established in May 2019.
The court had ruled that due process was not followed in the creation of the earlier emirates and the appointment of emirs.
The State Executive Council on Monday transmitted a fresh bill to the Assembly for the creation of the new emirates.
Kano State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, in a statement, disclosed that the Council had endorsed the establishment of four new Emirates namely Rano, Gaya, Bichi and Karaye and had forwarded same to the state Assembly for necessary action.
