Nigerian online community website, Nairaland, for the first time ever has recorded more traffic than Facebook in Nigeria.
According to Alexia ranking, which is a measure of websites popularity, Nairaland is now Nigeria’s number one news website, as it also leapfrogged Facebook on the ranking of the most visited websites in Nigeria.
Nairaland was created in 2005 by Seun Osewa and is now fifth on the rank of the most visited websites in Nigeria.
Other sites that have more traffic that Nairaland are Google, Yahoo, YouTube and sports betting site, Bet9ja.
Facebook, a social network website which used to be 3rd on the list behind Google and Bet9ja has now dropped to 7th on the ranking.
Twitter and Instagram have recorded improvement on the ranking as they both moved three places up.
Twitter which used to be 17th is now 14th while Instagram is now 20, an improvement from its 23rd position before the latest ranking.
