Napoli Name Gattuso as New Manager

Former AC Milan gaffer, Gennaro Gattuso has been named as the new manager of Italian side, Napoli.

The Italian World Cup winner will replace Carlo Ancelotti who was sacked on Tuesday following a poor start to the season.

Although Ancelotti led Napoli to a 4-0 victory over Genk in Naples on Tuesday to qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, it was still not enough to save his job.

41-year-old Gattuso, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, left his previous role as AC Milan boss at the end of last season after failing to take the team into the Champions League.

“We need to work hard, win back points and come through this tricky period.

“The aim is to recoup points and get back into the Champions League positions,” Gattuso said.

Napoli are seventh in Serie A, eight points off the top four.
