Protest Rocks Kano over New Emirate Nullification by Court

Some residents of some communities in Kano are currently embarking on a protest over Thursday’s court judgment.

A Kano High Court on Thursday presided over by Justice Usaman Na’abba had nullified the creation of four new first-class emirates in May by the state government  saying that it did not follow due process.

The four new emirates which Governor Abdullahi Ganduje named first-class emirs are Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya.

After the judgement, scores of residents of Karaye and Gaya Local Government Areas of the state trooped out to protest the judgement.

In Karaye, the residents carried placards, whose contents were in Hausa, to show their grievances at the judgment.

“Leave us in our new emirate, the Karaye emirate,” one of the placards reads.

“The people of Karaye are in support of the new emirate,” another placard reads.
