Youths in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, under the aegis of Ikwerre Political Forum have vowed to protect votes cast in the rerun election scheduled for December 10 at all cost. President of the Forum, Great Owhor, at the back of the campaign, told reporters in Port Harcourt that all votes cast must count and the youths would ensure that it does.
“We took Wike’s allegation that the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Police are plotting to rig the rerun election in the state. As you know, INEC and the Police are organs of the federal government. So, we will ensure that anything that would affect the fair conduct of the re-election does not take place.
“We expect that supporters of the PDP and the APC will vote and remain close to the polling units until the votes cast are counted and the winners declared. We share the governor’s belief that if there is no peace in Rivers State, the state cannot move forward. This election must not be used to foment insecurity, whatsoever.” Owhor stated.
“I am sure that the voters will count. But I am surprised that the governor is campaigning in all the communities were the re-run election is holding, while the opposition APC and its candidates are doing nothing, How does the APC intend to win since it is not campaigning?” he asked.
