The Executive Secretary of the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SSPHCDA), Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi Romo has assured stakeholders in the health sector on the commitment of the Sokoto Government towards ensuring sustainability of the campaign that will lead to eradication of polio in the state.
Romo revealed this to our correspondent while on a routine monitoring exercise at the ongoing third outbreak response campaign on polio (OBR3), in Achida Ward of Wurno Local Government Area of the state.
“The state government under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon.Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has demonstrated the political will in sustaining the campaign through various policy programs and ensuring that competent hands are engage in the exercise. That is why we monitor and asses the ongoing immunization exercise with a view to identifying gaps and challenges that can assist us in proper planing of future campaigns”.
While thanking the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), development partners and the traditional institutions for their support in the campaign, Romo appealed to them to sustain the tempo towards the total eradication of the polio scourge and other child killer diseases in the State and the nation at large.
The Executive Secretary further appealed to care givers to redouble their efforts in embracing the polio campaign pointing out that, “it is only when we have your support that the quest in the eradication of polio on the surface of the earth will succeed”.
He also commended the determination of all the staff involved in the exercise describing their efforts as “humanitarian service whose reward will be reap in this world and the hereafter”.
The ongoing OBR campaign is taking place in seven Local Government Areas of Sokoto state that includes Sokoto North, Wurno, Denge Shuni, Sokoto South, Kware, Bodinga, Yabo and Wamakko.
