Abductors of Dele Fagoriola, former chairman of Akure North Local Government area of Ondo state have demanded N10 million for his release.
Fagoriola, who was the council boss between 2004 and 2007, was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday by seven men at his farm located along Iju/Ikere-Ekiti road.
The Politico had gathered that he was said to have gone to the farm to inspect the level of job done by the man working for him.
It was learnt that the former local government chairman was abducted while entering into the farm but his labourer escaped.
Busuyi Fagoriola, elder brother of the victim, and Adeola Fagoriola, the former council chairman’s wife, confirmed the kidnappers’ demand for N10 million ransom to effect his release him.
They said the kidnappers contacted the family through phone to demand the ransom.
But Femi Joseph, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, said the police would not encourage payment of ransom to criminal elements.
Joseph said policemen were on the trail of the kidnappers, promising that the victim would be rescued as soon as possible.
