The Peoples Democratic Party, Oyo State chapter, has faulted the claim made by the family of the late former Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, that they were not given prior notice about the coming of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, at the 8th Day Fidau Prayer for the late former governor.
The Publicity Secretary for the PDP, Engr Akeem Olatunji, in a rebuttal to the earlier statement issued by Mr Bolaji Tunji, media aide to Ajimobi, said it was not true that the event was a family affair.
Olatunji explained that former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and many persons were present at the venue, alleging that Mrs Florence Ajimobi, informed security personnel not to allow government delegation led by the deputy governor into the venue.
The statement read; “To the unsuspecting members of the public, kindly disregard APC Media Team Press Release in its entirety, it wasn’t a private family affair because Otunba Alao Adebayo Akala and many others were there and the family were well informed in advance that the Deputy Governor would be leading the Government delegation to the event.
“It was reported that the security personnels at the gate informed the Government delegation that there was an order from Madam not to allow the Government delegation into the venue.
“Kudos to His Excellency Engr Rauf Olaniyan for displaying high level of maturity and Omoluabi ethos that he and His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde are known for.
“The more the Governor try to extend hands of friendship the more they rebuff his good gesture.”
Ajimobi’s family through a statement issued by Mr Tunji had earlier said they had no information that the deputy governor would grace the occasion, adding that no advance party was at the Oluyole residence of Ajimobi, the venue of the event.
Tunji who explained that the event was a family affair, however apologied to the deputy governor for the incident.
