Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has barred government officials in the state from making public statements on the land dispute between the people of Araromi Obu and their Ikale neighbours.
The Governor had on Monday inaugurated a five-man panel to investigate the remote cause of the clash that erupted in Ago Alaye over the protracted land tussle.
Following the clash which claimed about four lives and property worth millions destroyed, the state government had since July imposed twenty four hours curfew on Ago Alaye community.
Akeredolu in a statement on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ojo Oyewamide said he gave the directive in order for the panel not to be distracted in its assignment.
” Mr. Governor’s belief in the sanctity of the process already put in place underscores the need for all avoid the path of subjudice.
” Nonetheless, this directive does not in way, inhibit private suggestions from individuals to the Panel by way of Memorandum, on issues that will promote a more harmonious relationship between the affected communities, please,” the statement read.
