Akeredolu Commiserates with Flood Victim’s Family, University Community


Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has commiserated with the family of Doyinsola Motunrayo, a final year student of Religious Studies Department at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko (AAUA) who was on Monday swept away by flood resulting from several hours of torrential rain.

A statement from Oyewamide Ojo,
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, quoted the Governor as saying that the incident was unfortunate.

The statement conveyed the governor’s deep condolences to the parents and family members of the deceased.

The statement further stated that the Governor shared the pain of her death with the entire students’ body and indeed, the university community.

“While praying God to grant both the family of Doyin and the University Community the fortitude to bear this heartaching loss, Mr Governor expresses concern and indeed, warns against the indiscriminate construction of buildings along flood prone areas as well as the blockage of canals, stream channels and drainages”, the statement added.
