Alleged Extortion: Shehu Sani Regains Freedom after Fulfilling Bail Conditions

A former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has been released by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following weeks of detention. 

Sani was released after meeting his bail conditions which was granted him by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.

Sani was granted bail conditions of N10million with one surety in like sum.

The former federal lawmaker was arrested in December for allegedly extorting a businessman and “collecting $25,000 in the name of the EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu”.

He was charged with two counts, bordering on advance fee fraud and bribery with the intention to bribe the EFCC chairman.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
