ASUU Calls on Buhari to Adopt Pro-development Policies

Following the declaration of President Muhammadu  Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as the winner of the presidential election, the Academic Staff  Union of Universities (ASUU) Uyo chapter, has called on the President to embark on policies that can bring about inclusive growth and development in the country.

Speaking to newsmen in Uyo, the ASUU Chairman, Dr. Daniel Udoh, said that in order to move the nation forward, the President needed to adopt friendly economic policies.

While congratulating the President on his victory at the poll, the university don said that that it is time for the President to settle down and tackle the challenges confronting the country, arguing  that Nigeria can no longer depend on oil as its main source of income.

Speaking further, Dr. Udoh, noted that Nigeria is rich in agriculture but government has not demonstrated enough political will to move the sector forward.

The ASUU chairman also appealed to the Federal Government to fulfil the agreement it entered with the union, saying that should the FG reneges,  it seems the union would be forced to embark on strike which he said would not be in the interest of  the workers and students.
