Bauchi Gov Orders Immediate Construction of Classrooms for Pupils Studying under Trees


Upset by conditions he saw pupils studying in a dilapidated structure and  under tree shades, Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State has directed the State Universal Basic Education Board to embark on massive construction of classrooms across the state.

The Governor gave the directive when he paid an unscheduled visit to a school with about three hundred pupils that are studying under the trees in Nasarawa Village of Alkaleri Local government Area of the state.

Governor Muhammad said the directive became necessary in order to ensure provision of quality education to students.

According to him, inadequate public schools and infrastructure across the state was part of the the reasons for  declaring  the state as one of  the  highest with the number of out of school children in the country.

The Governor,who stopped his convoy to visit the school on his way to Bauchi from Gombe, expressed concern with the conditions of public schools in the state.

He therefore appealed to development partners and donor agencies to support his administration’s determination towards restoring the lost glory of education in the state.

On his part, the Village Head of Nadarawa, Malam Muhammad Shehu told the governor that the allowance of the school teacher was being paid by members of the community.
