Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is eager to sell off his flat in Trump Tower in New York City, and willing to take a massive loss on the sale, scmp.com reports.
According to the style/luxury site, Ronaldo bought the luxurious flat at 721 Fifth Avenue back in 2015 with a huge price of US$18.5 million.
The house was purchased two months after Donald Trump announced his presidential ambition which shot up the value of the property.
It appears the 36-year old is now struggling to get rid of the house, six years later, despite agreeing to take a massive loss as its value drops following Trump’s dwindling popularity, thanks to his controversial time as US President.
The former President has been having a rough year wth his ban from most social media while he reportedly consistently records financial loss since his exit from the White House.
Following pressure from his fans to sell the 3-bedroom apartment from the tower, Ronaldo in 2019 first listed the 2,510 sq ft abode for less than half of what he bought it for, at US$9 million.
The former world footballer of the year has now dropped the asking price to US$7.75 million which could still be reduced further, scmp.com reports.
The apartment has a fitness room, an office space with a view of Manhattan Towers, a foyer, living room, and art gallery.
The residence is known to have inspired 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James, who used the interiors as a model for Christian Grey’s bachelor pad.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is not the only person with remote connection to Trump to have been impacted negatively by the former POTUS’ dipping image.
Scmp.com reports that billionaire Canadian socialite Suzanne Rogers, for example, swiftly went from being the country’s fashion fairy godmother to being pushed out of high society thanks to a picture of her with Trump at a Mar-a-Lago dinner.
