Ex-Arsenal Players Heap Praise as Aubameyang’s Brace Sinks Chelsea in FA Cup Final

Many former Arsenal players took to Twitter to celebrate the Gunners FA Cup triumph over London rivals, Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night after the blast of the final whistle.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s brace ensured Mikel Arteta’s men came from a goal down to clinch their record 14th FA Cup trophy.

Christian Pulisic had given Chelsea the lead, but the Blues buckled after Aubameyang was brought down by Cesar Azpilicueta inside the area and converted the resulting penalty.

The Gunners captain found the back of the net again 23 minutes from time with a beautiful effort to seal the victory for the North London side.

The victory also secured Arsenal’s place in the Europa League next season.

Following the victory, many former Arsenal players took to the social media to express their excitement and rejoice with the team last night.

Former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo, whose birthday was coincidentally on Saturday described the victory as a birthday present on his Twitter handle.

The left footed German forward won the FA Cup alongside current manager, Arteta, who was also a key member of the team.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, also congratulated Arsenal on their 14th FA Cup victory.

Fabregas, a former Arsenal captain, won the same trophy with Arsenal in 2005 and later with Chelsea in 2018.

“Congratulations @Arsenal for winning the @FACupFinal For the 14th tim #remarkable,” he tweeted.

Ex-Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie also took to Twitter to hail the Gunners remarkable feat, describing it as an “outstanding achievement”.

Van Persie singled out Aubameyang’s second strike for praise, describing it as “class finish”.

“Congrats @Arsenal! Outstanding achievement to win this year’s #FACup Class finish by @Aubameyang7 to get the win after another great team performance,” he tweeted.
