A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Obadaiah Mailafiya, has been reported dead.
A family member, who confirmed his death, said he died on Sunday morning at about 8am after a brief illness.
Mailafiya ,who hails from Sanga Local Government in Southern Kaduna, died at the age of 64
He was a presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections.
Mailafiya was also a first-rate economist, prominent newspaper columnist and social critic who recently accused some governor and prominent Nigerians of sponsoring banditry and Boko Haram terrorism for sinister gains, an accusation that earned him an invitation from the Department of State Services (DSS).
