The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has on Wednesday announced the sack of some of political aides in the Ivo Local Government Area of the State, where the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, hails from.
This is coming barely 24 hours after Anyim wrote an open letter to Umahi where he alleged that Umahi was plotting to kill him.
According to reports, Anyim was reacting to an allegation by Governor Umahi that the former Senate President was plotting with other high-ranking Peoples Democratic Party leaders in the state to instigate violence.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, announced the sack in the state-owned radio station, the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday.
According to Ugbala, the sack was informed by the Governor’s decision to ensure inclusiveness in governance.
Those affected by the sack include all Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor; all Liaison Officers; and all Management Committee members from Ivo council.
All those affected have been directed to handover all government property in their possession to the Secretary to the State Government by the close of work today – December 2.
Umahi had last Thursday sacked Coordinators of Ivo and Echiele Development Centres for allegedly refusing to sign a communiqué against Senator Anyim.
Also, some of Umahi’s appointees from the Ivo LGA had resigned some days ago, before this recent sacking.
