The Rivers State Chapter of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) is set to accord a befitting and rousing welcome to its leader and founder, Major Hamza Al Mustapha (Rtd) as he is expected to visit the state shortly.
The state coordinator of the party, Alphine Whyte revealed that Al Mustapha who is the party’s presidential hopeful, would meet with the people and interact with the growing and teeming members of the party in the state.
“Our Principal, Major Hamza Al Mustapha (Rtd) is being expected in Port Harcourt. The plans for his visit are still on and the moment we are through with the arrangements, we will make it public. But for now, we are still on the verge of preparations,” he stated.
On the purpose of the visit, he said, “Al Mustapha is a Nigerian, he is a friend to Rivers people and you know, we are in political times and there is a party where Al Mustapha happens to be the leader and that is the party which I’m the Coordinator. He’s coming to see the work done so far in the state; let me say meet the people tour.”
On the strength of the party in the state, Whyte averred: “People are trooping in. We don’t like blowing our trumpet. When a few people decamp to a party they go on radio and shout so, so number has decamped to our party. Defections are taking place on a daily basis. People are trooping in, in their numbers to make GPN great.”
GPN occupies the third place among vibrant political parties in the state.
