Nigeria Battles Senegal for Third Beach Soccer AFCON Glory

Nigeria will be fighting for their third Beach Soccer Nations Cup title when they face defending champions Senegal on Friday in the final of 2019 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Super Sand Eagles defeated host, Egypt, 7-6 to make it through to the final and also be the first country to qualify for the World Cup in Paraguay next year despite having a shaky start to the tournament.

Senegal beat Morocco 7-2 on Thursday to pick the second World Cup ticket and book a place in the final.

The final will be a repeat of 2016 final where Senegal, who will be fighting for their fifth crown today, defeated the Nigerian team to be crowned African champions for the fourth time.

The two sides also met at the group stage of this edition which ended 2-0 on penalties in favour of Senegal after the game ended in a 4-4 draw.

Speaking ahead of the final, Supersand Eagles coach Audu Adamu said his team would give their all for the title.

“We came here to go all the way, by qualifying for the World Cup and winning the Africa Cup. Now that we have qualified for the World Cup, we will be relaxed to play the final with huge confidence,” he said.
