Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Rise to 164,423, Death Toll Remains 2,061 for Eighth Consecutive Day


Nigeria’s total cases of COVID-19 rose to 164, 423 on Tuesday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced 120 new infections.

NCDC disclosed this via its verified Twitter handle on Tuesday evening.

According to the centre, the infected persons were discovered from seven states and the Federal Capital Territory which returned seven positive samples.

Enugu State topped the day’s chart with 53 cases and followed by Lagos State which recorded 22 infections.

Other states are Rivers-18, Ogun-8, Abia-6, Kano-5 and Bauchi-1.

According to the centre, no fatality was recorded for the eighth consecutive day as death toll remains 2,061 while discharged persons increased to 154,406.

However, active cases in all the isolation centers across the country have risen to 7,956, NCDC statistics shows.
