Oyo Confirms Sixteen New Cases of COVID-19 in Six LGAs

Sixteen new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Oyo State, taking the total number of infections in the state to 507.

Governor Makinde who gave the update on Monday said the new cases were recorded from six local governments in the state. 

The local governments where the cases were recorded include; North West (4), Ibadan North (3), Ibadan South West (3), Lagelu (2), Egbeda (2) and Itesiwaju (2) Local Government Areas.

The governor who is also the chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19, said free tests are being conducted at community-based testing centres across the state. 

“Free COVID-19 tests are being conducted at community-based testing centres across Oyo State. If you have any strange fevers, sudden loss of taste/smell or other known COVID-19 symptoms, please visit the nearest centre to get tested. Details in the attached card.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for sixteen suspected cases came back POSITIVE. The cases are from Ibadan North West (4), Ibadan North (3), Ibadan South West (3), Lagelu (2), Egbeda (2) and Itesiwaju (2) Local Government Areas. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 507,” the governor said.
