Police Arrest Former Imo Governor Okorocha

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command on Sunday arrested a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha was arrested for unsealing Spring Palm Estate which has been linked to his wife, Nkechi.

Imo state government had on Friday sealed the estate in the Akachi axis of Owerri, the state capital.

Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning Development, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, who supervised the sealing of the estate, announced that the state government had recovered the property.

Onuegbu stated that closing the estate was in line with the directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Recovery of Lands and Related Matters belonging to the state government.

Okorocha, who now represents Imo West at the Senate, led his supporters, policemen, soldiers and personnel of National Security and Civil Defence Corps and ordered the unsealing of the estate on Sunday.

His action led to a clash with Government officials who had also mobilised to the estate.

Also arrested were Ijeoma Igboanusi and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu.

Igboanusi was the deputy chief of staff (Domestics) while Okafor-Anyanwu was the Commissioner for Transportation in Okorocha’s government.
