The Nigeria Police Force said it has established contact with Ms Towobola, a 25-year old lady who was subjected to dehumanizing treatment in a viral video by personnel attached to Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos.
The security agency said police detectives from the State CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos who reached out to the victim, assured her that justice will not only be done but will be seen to have been manifestly done.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, with the latest arrest of the remaining two accomplices, all the four persons involved in the act have been apprehended.
“The two additional persons arrested are CPL Aiyedun Akeem and one Ope Owoeye – the civilian accomplice popularly known as ‘Wyclef’. Recall that ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspr Gboyega were earlier arrested for their involvement in the cas,” Mba said.
The police spokesperson added that investigation was still ongoing after which the Force internal disciplinary procedures will commence for the officers.
The dehumanizing treatment meted out to Ms Towobola who was arrested alongside her boyfriend, a suspected kidnapper, in Ibadan, by the police officers in the video which went viral on Wednesday attracted condemnations from many Nigerians on the internet.
The outrage elicited by the video necessitated the Inspector General of Police to order a discreet investigation into the matter.
