In his reminiscence, Kida said needless bickering amongst stakeholders characterized 2021. This, he said, took the shine off a glorious year. He urged stakeholders to join hands in building a basketball system that will be self-sufficient and sustaining in the country.

We, therefore, call on Mr. Dare to do the right thing – respect the rule of law and allow the NBBF Statute put to rest any misunderstanding in the Federation with the guidance of his ministry, the NOC, and FIBA, without any interference. The first thing he must do is to reverse the postponement of the electoral process, then comply with FIBA’s dateline of January 31, 2022, to complete the electoral process. This, he should do to avoid derailing the sport that has recently enhanced our soft power on the world stage.

FIBA, the world’s governing body for Basketball, recently gave the Hon. Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare up until January 31, 2022, to allow the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to conclude its elections.
