The Nigerian national women basketball team on Sunday lost to their United States counterpart 62-93 in a pre-Olympic friendly at Las Vegas.
US outscored Nigeria in all four quarters of the game, though only by one point in the third quarter.
Atonye Nyingifa led the scoring charts for Nigeria with nine points, while centre Elizabeth Williams scored four points.
The Americans had suffered back-to-back defeats in their exhibition games, ahead of the game against Nigeria, losing 93-85 to Team WNBA in the All-Star Game on Wednesday and 70-67 to Team Australia on Friday.
Last week was the first time since a 2011 exhibition tour in Europe that the U.S. women’s national team lost back-to-back games.
The Americans haven’t lost three consecutive games since 1998 in the Australian Goldmark Cup, with all of those defeats coming to Australia.
US will meet Nigeria again very soon, in the group stage of the Olympics in Tokyo on July 27.
